What the hell to wear this week (vol. 2)

September is weird!

The task order remains the same: honor the season, a lame duck by now, not quite over but no longer here either, while demonstrating your readiness, excitement, etc for what lay ahead. (Anyone going for this cropped fieldy? Love the idea with leather gloves, a personality skirt or sleek black pants and a pair of simple kitten heels). What is not simple:

MOC button halter top (she is a good alt option, so is she. Love the boob cups. I think I’m going to go for one of these knits for when it gets a little cooler, and this is not the most intuitive alternative but the shape is very flattering and the material is thick enough to go braless), Pucci capri pants, The Row sneakers (a good alt here, also can’t stop thinking about these with flare pants)
B-low the Belt studded bag (here is the hobo version. Alternatively, you can do her), LMC bicep bangle (soaking in the season while it’s still here!)

Printed capri pants and a halter top with decorative buttons all over it but don’t you feel like the black sneakers relax it and even bring it into fall territory in some way? Bag is another curveball, which I tried to tie in more with the inclusion of a gold link bracelet. She feels like a good one to me for school pick-up after a day of having to do things that kept you on your feet and mostly outdoors.

Another good everyday-er:

The Park sheer button down, Beaufille tank (also a fan of these stretchy guys from Kye Intimates — am loving how a sheer shirt looks with something body hug-y under), Leset crepe shorts (they’re like Galas, but cropped), Gabriela Hearst clogs
Savette suede bag, Jacques Marie Mage sunglasses (these from Jimmy Fairly are a tried and tested pair of sheer lenses I think you could be into; I got the yellow, but like the blue. Think the red is cool if you wear mostly cool colors to heat it up a bit)

Layers so if it’s cold in the AM, you’re covered, and if it gets warmer, you have a great tank top on. Shoes are a little heavy, I’ll admit, but nothing my calves and gluts aren’t afraid to work with. Speaking of work…

Potentially good for work:

Posse top and skirt, By Far shoes
My own choker, a black coil bracelet watch (two suggestions: this wild combo from Johanna Ortiz, this hematite cuff from Jennifer Fisher), good sunglasses here and a red satin pouch here

A cotton polka set — long sleeve subtle boat neck and a slouchy fit with an elastic waist skirt. I kind of love how dowdy the set feels, because of what you can do to make it cooler: almost-patent leather closed toe flats (Philo coded, but no bow and potentially more flattering because of where the vamp hits the top of the foot. Also a lot less expensive!). And the usual as far as jewelry goes: inappropriately large diamond earrings, wayfarer style sunglasses, a statement choker, etc.

Another one, maybe better but then again, there’s a jean jacket:

Ossou jean jacket, All Three pants, and a parade of charm bracelets to try here, here, here. (One of mine is Jamie Haller)
Maybe you want to swap the flip flops with brogues or a pair of simple but very good kitten heels. Pants come black too, perfect w the beige bolero.

If you replaced the flip flops with these brogues. Love this jacket because it’s more like a top, and the cropped back makes it’s a hot girl foil for low rise pants, but subtly. Re mentioned brogues:

Sea New York jacket, stiff cotton grey t-shirt, Area shorts (so old), Jamie Haller shoes; please also enjoy her new desert boot!
The more tasteful pant equivalent might be these. Or these. In which case you’re going with a shoe more like this

Not sure you can put this one on and say “totally appropriate for (insert ANY event here)!” So you kind of just have to go with it and let the environment blend.

Actually reasonable for work:

Right? I’m not great with enforced dress codes. Aflalo button down (here in black; but some rly good new ones running amuck too), St. Agni skirt, The Row pumps (but if you’re going for a pair, I think these), Tory Burch bag

If you’re going to dinner:

Old Michael Kors dress hacked into a tunic, Brock jeans (you can find a bunch on TRR — all the ones labeled ‘high rise straight jeans’ are the same style, the Wright. Or you can just go with this newer option at market; low rise version good too), Khaite sandals, my own necklace
I have some good dress-over-pant options for you here, here, here.

No time like the present to start slapping mini dresses over your jeans and calling them tunics. Khaite single strap sandals still serving as greatest late summer/early fall shoe-hit. But if you’re feeling extra flirty…

Bevza dress (try something like this in its place?), and The Row closed toe slippers. How are we feeling about these?
B-low the Belt belt, could have worn a bra
“DM for prices!”

How about a dress you can’t wear to someone else’s wedding, could have potentially worn to your own, but can also swing with the right casual buckle belt and black flats. Nothing like an open back with loooooong sleeves and a stack, no, sleeve o’ bracelets.

Here, meanwhile is what I wore to one of two Rosh Hashana dinners:

The Row silk top (great alt 1, great alt 2), Cordera belt (kind of Row-ish), All Three pants, Christen sandals
And here’s the necklace. Recently started clipping a pendant into the hook of the belt, which is going great for me if you are wondering

I’d equate the dress code for a holiday dinner to some kind of formal event in a casual context. Like back to school night at your kids school or an off-site meeting where you’re really trying to win a client or whatever. Equal parts respectful, put together, and you can add some cool if you just can’t help it.

Last thing to show you, shrunken button down with terry cloth pants in a color I loved this summer but also love for fall —

La Veste silk shirt (the shape is so good), Suzie Kondi yellow pants, Chanel sandals. Here are the earrings
The Veil bag; should we talk about all the technical (taffeta) pants coming round the mountain? How about this cashmere beaded halter?

The black accents really ground the look and make it feel more appropriate for the city even though the pants are terry.

Said that was the last look, but I’m wrong there’s one more:

Cheers

Have a great week,

Leandra
